Barcelona will likely search elsewhere for a replacement for Sergio Busquets, with Man Utd reportedly poised to offer a £25.7 million sum for the La Liga leaders’ desired midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat

The Moroccan national team player had a strong 2022 World Cup performance in Qatar, which piqued Barca’s interest. Barca attempted to buy him in the January transfer window to fill in at pivot. They were unable to reach a deal with his team, Fiorentina, though.

According to the Spanish publication Nacional, the Serie A team is willing to trade him this summer for 30 million euros (£25.7 million). More than ever, Xavi’s team needs a defensive midfielder with Busquets departing for Inter Miami. However, rumours suggest that the Blaugrana lack the resources to pay Fiorentina’s demand.

Amrabat is seen by United manager Erik ten Hag, who oversaw the midfielder at FC Utrecht, as the perfect complement to Casemiro. According to the report, the Premier League’s juggernauts are prepared to pay the amount that Barcelona is unable to.

Oriol Romeu, a former Chelsea midfielder, has been selected by the Catalan team as the best possible replacement for Busquets.

They say that Amrabat is still a target for Atletico Madrid, and a summer move to Spain is still a possibility.

The Red Devils, though, have an advantage in the race to sign the aggressive midfielder because it’s believed they’ve already reached an understanding with his agents.

It should be emphasised that the departure of either Scott McTominay or Fred is a prerequisite for any midfield additions to United following the signing of Mason Mount.

Despite United’s financial standing being better than Barcelona’s, Ten Hag may need to sell before he can add another player to the middle of the field due to the ownership dispute.
