Jordan Henderson has agreed to quit Liverpool and relocate to Saudi Arabia for a salary of £700,000 per week.

The Reds captain was considering a lucrative transfer to Saudi Pro League team Al Ettifaq, who is now managed by Steven Gerrard, talkSPORT reported on Wednesday.

talkSPORT is aware of Henderson has now verbally accepted the offer, making him the most well-known player to leave Europe for Saudi Arabia in recent memory.

The two teams have not yet reached an agreement, but Liverpool has set a £20 million price tag on Henderson ahead of negotiations with Al Ettifaq.

The legendary Reds player Gerrard made luring Henderson to the Middle East a top objective.

The Saudi team wants to rank the 33-year-old among the highest-paid footballers in the world.

The England midfielder’s current wage at Anfield is $200,000 per week; his new compensation is expected to be nearly four times that amount.

Henderson has already told his boss Jurgen Klopp that he wants to go for a different experience, and the German has given his skipper his OK.

The 77-cap Three Lions international, whose amazing bodily change has astounded his teammates, has played a significant role for Liverpool since joining in 2011.

However, with the additions of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, there was no assurance that Henderson would be a consistent starter in Merseyside for the upcoming campaign.

He joined Liverpool from the Black Cats and has since made 492 appearances across all competitions, scoring 34 goals.

He succeeded Steven Gerrard as captain in 2015, and if the two clubs can agree on a price, he will leave Anfield as one of their greatest captains ever.

Last year, after adding the FA Cup to his collection of the Champions League, Premier League, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup, he made club history by becoming the first captain to win six distinct major awards.

When Liverpool defeated Manchester City before the 2022–23 season, Henderson then added the Community Shield to his collection of trophies.

The English star might not be the only Liverpool player moving to Saudi Arabia, as champions Al Ittihad have their sights set on Fabinho.

Al Ittihad, who this summer acquired Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante, is rumoured to be prepared to make Liverpool an offer of £40 million.

Following his recent departure from Liverpool, Brazilian attacker Roberto Firmino has already joined Saudi superteam Al Ahli.
