In the midst of the club’s pursuit of Harry Kane, Thomas Tuchel insists that Bayern Munich will be “all in” on signing a striker this summer.
The German champions made two bids for Kane, the second of which is said to be for £68.5 million plus add-ons and was rejected by Tottenham.
Bayern are still interested in signing the England international, and representatives from the two clubs met on Thursday. Despite having just one year left on his contract, Spurs are confident their striker won’t be moved this summer.
Manchester United had decided against pursuing a move this summer as a result of Tottenham’s tough attitude, but Bayern has not given up hope of a deal yet.
On Saturday, Bayern manager Tuchel was asked about the club’s interest in Kane. Despite his refusal to identify specific names, Tuchel emphasised his desire to sign a striker this summer.
Tuchel said in a press conference, “I have a very boring answer: I do not comment on players who are not with us.”
The fact that we are seeking for a number 9 is widely known. We’ll commit fully if we find someone who fits in.
‘If we don’t find anyone, we’re happy with our squad. But we need more patience’
Should Spurs hold firm, Bayern are prepared to wait until next summer when Kane becomes a free agent and are now considering possible alternatives for the coming season.
According to Sky Sport Germany, the club and Julian Alvarez’s agents have already started discussing a season-long loan agreement.
Dusan Vlahovic is another choice that has been taken into account.
Kane, meanwhile, has departed to Australia and Asia with the rest of the Tottenham team for their preseason trip.
