Inter Miami owner David Beckham has revealed his delight at being able to bring Lionel Messi to his club.
WTF HAPPENED? Following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, Messi chose to join the MLS team, and Inter Miami has now formally announced his signing. Beckham has expressed his happiness at having Messi join his team, calling the move a “dream come true” in a message on social media.
Beckham posted on Instagram, saying: “The next chapter of our tale begins here. When I first began this adventure ten years ago, I had a dream of bringing the best players in the world to Miami. players who shared my desire to leave a lasting legacy in the game we all love and help grow football in this country when I joined LA Galaxy.
“Today, that wish was fulfilled. I’m overjoyed to welcome a buddy, an incredible person, and his gorgeous family to our Inter Miami CF community. I couldn’t be prouder that a player of Leo’s calibre is joining our club.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Messi’s signing is a major victory for Inter Miami and Beckham, and it will undoubtedly greatly benefit Major League Soccer. The attacker joins a group that is now last in the Eastern Conference after leading Argentina to World Cup victory in Qatar last year.
