According to reports, West Ham United is eager to capture both Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire from Manchester United during the summer transfer season.

Since the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal has now been officially announced by the Hammers, head coach David Moyes should have a large budget to bolster his team during the current market.

Maguire and McTominay’s futures have been the subject of much rumour in recent weeks, with neither player thought to be in head coach Erik ten Hag’s future plans for the Red Devils.

According to The Independent, now Rice’s transfer has been confirmed, West Ham will step up their interest in McTominay, who is said to be a leading midfield target for the Hammers.

Meanwhile, the report claims that Moyes’s team are also keen on Maguire, with a loan move for the England international thought to be a possibility in the current market.

Maguire has seen his wages at Man United increase this summer, and the 30-year-old still has another two years left to run on his deal at Old Trafford, with the option of a further year.

The former Sheffield United youngster has dropped down the pecking order in terms of the starting roles in the middle of the Red Devils defence, though, only making the first XI in the Premier League on eight occasions during the 2022-23 campaign.

Man United reportedly wants to offload the Englishman permanently this summer, but a loan deal is regarded to be more likely given his enormous wage package.

The pecking order for the centre-back positions places Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, and Lisandro Martinez ahead of Harry Maguire. Luke Shaw was also selected ahead of Maguire in that position last season.

McTominay’s future is also the subject of much speculation, with a number of Premier League clubs believed to be interested in securing his signature.

Newcastle United were heavily linked with the Scotland international during the January transfer window and are still thought to be in the picture to sign him.

Meanwhile, Everton and Brighton & Hove Albionhave also been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old, who only started 10 Premier League matches during the 2022-23 campaign.

Although McTominay isn’t regarded to be the straight replacement for Rice at the London Stadium, West Ham head coach David Moyes thinks the Scotsman may be an important player there.

As the club looks to sign deals for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana and Atalanta BC attacker Rasmus Hojlund, Man United is under pressure to sell some first-team players this summer.
