The fact that Joao Felix has no interest in joining Unai Emery’s Aston Villa would help Newcastle United’s prospects of acquiring the former Chelsea loanee.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa are both interested in signing Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, according to Marca.

However, Felix, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea from Atletico, wants to move to a club that will play in the UEFA Champions League next season.

The 23-year-old, who can play up front, on the wing, or in attacking midfield, apparently has no interest in joining Villa.

Newcastle will be encouraged by Felix’s attitude towards his future.

The Chronicle stated earlier this month that Newcastle had been offered Felix.

The Magpies, who finished in the top four of the Premier League standings last year, will participate in the UEFA Champions League next year.

For the young player, who earns £250,000 per week (The Sun), Newcastle will reportedly have to pay a loan fee of £11 million.

Newcastle United more likely than Aston Villa to sign Joao Felix

We believe Newcastle United will have a better chance than Aston Villa of acquiring Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old is accustomed to vying for the La Liga championship and taking part in the UEFA Champions League.

Even though Villa is a sizable and reputable club in the Premier League, Unai Emery’s team is not expected to finish in the top four any time soon.

Under the ownership of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and manager Eddie Howe, Newcastle are on the rise.

The Magpies will be driven to repeat their top-four Premier League performance in 2017–18 and establish themselves as a mainstay of the UEFA Champions League in the years to come.

Felix would probably find that to be very appealing.
