According to Christian Falk of GIVEMESPORT, Liverpool and Chelsea are both in discussions with the representative of Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard about a potential summer transfer.

After losing a number of players this summer, the Reds’ top objective is to strengthen their midfield. Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are two more midfielders who have been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia.

But Pavard has become a target for Liverpool, who are also looking to bolster their defence. According to journalist Christian Falk, Jurgen Klopp’s team has spoken with the 27-year-old’s agents about a potential move to Anfield this summer.

Liverpool will have tough competition, though, as the German journalist asserts that Chelsea is also in the running to sign Pavard and has had discussions with the player’s representatives about a potential move to West London.

Furthermore, according to Falk, Barcelona is also interested in luring the French international to Spain, though the La Liga winners will find it difficult to raise the necessary funds given their financial difficulties.

Christian Falk spoke to GIVEMESPORT regarding Pavard.

“Yeah, of course. He’s an interesting player for the Premier League,”

Chelsea are always in talks with his management; Liverpool are in talks with his management, Barcelona as well, but Barcelona don’t have the money at the moment. They would like to have him as a free agent next summer.”

One of Europe’s top full-backs is known as Pavard. On the last day of the previous season, he made 43 appearances for Bayern Munich and contributed to eight goals as they defeated Borussia Dortmund to win the Bundesliga.

Quality signing

Because of his versatility, Pavard can play a variety of backline positions. He would be a perfect match for either Liverpool or Chelsea because he is at ease with the ball in his hands and wants to attack when the chance presents itself.

If one of the English heavyweights could reach an agreement on a contract, he would be a great addition to either team. His valuation is £31 million, which is a terrific price for the Premier League duo.

Trent Alexander-Arnold would be used more frequently in his new hybrid role under Klopp if Liverpool purchased Pavard. After Cesar Azpilicueta left for Atletico Madrid, Chelsea needs to bolster their right side.
