Jordi Alba a former Barcelona legend has joined Inter Miami rejoining Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets in Major League Soccer.
WHY DID THIS HAPPEN? Following quickly on the heels of the signings of Messi and Busquets, Inter has confirmed the acquisition of Alba. He signed a one-season deal, but the club has the option to make it two years. Alba might not be the last former Barcelona player to relocate either, as Andres Iniesta may be lured to the MLS by Miami, according to sources.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: While playing with Barcelona from 2012 to 2023, Alba won six La Liga championships and two Champions League titles. He and Spain also won the 2012 Euros.
WHAT THEY stated: “Jordi is an accomplished, dynamic, and experienced player that we’re excited to acquire to continue bolstering our squad,” stated sporting director Chris Henderson. Due to both his defensive sturdiness and ability to assist in the attack, he has demonstrated for more than a decade that he is one of the top fullbacks in the sport. We are confident that he will support Inter Miami in achieving its goals for the current campaign and beyond.
THEN WHAT? Alba wants to take part in Inter Miami’s preseason.
