The Super Falcons entered the game as underdogs, but they were able to grind out a respectable outcom

Former Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen has praised the Super Falcons of Nigeria after their tough goalless draw against Canada in their opening World Cup game, Soccernet reports.

Nigeria’s World Cup quest got off to a challenging and challenging start against Canada. In the previous two World Cup games between the two nations, the Canadians had lost to Nigeria. Nevertheless, they were the favorites because Canada had won the most recent Olympic football tournament. Additionally, they are ranked 33 places higher in FIFA than the Super Falcons.

Randy Waldrum’s women, though, gave an outstanding performance to ensure they departed Melbourne Rectangular Stadium with a point.

Eguavoen, a former Super Eagles coach, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance on social media.

Strong point for our Queens against Canada. I wish you luck in the remaining group games,” the 57-year-old remarked.

The Super Falcons’ next game is against co-hosts Australia on Thursday at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium.
