As one of their “main” midfield targets, Liverpool is reportedly interested in PSG and Italy’s Marco Verratti.

Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai were acquired by Liverpool this summer for about £95 million each from Brighton and RB Leipzig.

Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are expected to sign deals for a combined £50 million to join the Saudi Pro League, forcing the Premier League’s powerhouses to search for further midfield reinforcements.

Cheick Doucoure of Crystal Palace, Joao Palhinha of Fulham, and Romeo Lavia of Southampton are three defensive midfielders that are said to be priorities for Liverpool.

Nevertheless, the Spanish publication Fichajes is now asserting that Liverpool is truly interested in signing PSG center-midfielder Verratti.

The 30-year-old signed with the dominant Ligue 1 team in 2012, and throughout the course of the last 11 seasons, he has made over 400 appearances for them.

This summer, PSG will restructure their team. Neymar and Kylian Mbappe could yet quit the team in the upcoming months, while Lionel Messi has already left.

Verratti has a contract with PSG until 2026 and played 38 times for them last season, but rumours of a transfer elsewhere have surfaced.

He was rumoured to be moving to Premier League champions Man City last month, and now Liverpool appear to be in the running to sign him.

According to Fichajes, Verratti is the top target for Jurgen Klopp, who is “turning his attention to him as the main candidate to strengthen his squad.” Liverpool is reportedly “going with everything” to acquire Verratti.

The midfielder has ‘stated his desire to make the leap to the Premier League’ since he is ‘not totally pleased’ at PSG.

It is’seductive to him’ that he might join Liverpool and work for the Premier League team under Jurgen Klopp.

Cheick Doucoure of Crystal Palace is reportedly one name on Liverpool’s shortlist of targets, according to reports. After a successful initial season at Palace, when he won their Player of the Season title, the Merseysiders like him.

He may take Fabinho’s place in that defensive midfield position, and sources claim Liverpool is currently looking into a possible transfer.

‘Doucoure only joined Palace last summer for £21 million, and I’m told they’ll drive a hard bargain as they try to make a lot of money if he leaves the club. It might cost more than £35 million to wrest him away from Selhurst Park. According to the most recent overnight information, the price is now £50 million.
