According to reports, Liverpool has narrowed down their shortlist of potential midfielders to eight players. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are both about to leave the Saudi Pro League, therefore the Reds are eager to replace them and integrate the newcomers before the 2023–24 season begins.

Jurgen Klopp made it plain that he needed to reorganize his midfield ranks prior to the summer transfer window and let James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita to all depart as free agents. So, in a double signing that seemed to give the team new energy, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai were brought in as replacements.

Further midfield investment is necessary, though, since the seasoned duo of Fabinho and Henderson are both eager to move to the Middle East. Eight players are reportedly being considered at Anfield, according to the Daily Mail, however it remains to be seen if other targets materialize based on the money recovered from the impending double exit.

Despite playing little last season at the Etihad Stadium, Kalvin Phillips of Manchester City is the list’s unexpected wildcard because the England international is still highly regarded. Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in Southampton striker Romeo Lavia, who is also on Merseyside’s shortlist. However, his £50 million price tag is considered as too costly in compared to better qualified but less expensive alternatives.

The most affordable player on the shopping list is Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, a Moroccan international who costs under £30 million. Manchester United is anticipated to pursue the playmaker aggressively once they have bought a striker because they have a strong interest in him as well.

Players that have prior experience playing at the highest level may be particularly useful for Liverpool, who are trying to lower the average age of their roster. Real Madrid’s long-term goal Aurelien Tchouameni and Cheick Doucoure, 24, of Crystal Palace are still options.
