Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp called for trust from fans after a difficult campaign and Pep Guardiola has now outlined his aims
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has described the team’s desire to repeat their treble triumph from this year.
Liverpool will be attempting to make up for a dismal season last time out. The Reds swiftly lost the lead as Arsenal and City duked it out after having been in pursuit of the Citizens during their double victory in 2021/22.
After failing to qualify for the Champions League twice under Jurgen Klopp’s leadership, Liverpool is hoping to fight its way back to the top of the English top division with the additions of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Guardiola, the City manager, said: “I don’t know how consistent we will be after what we did – but I will ask them (team) not to forget what we did but we will attempt to do it again step by step.
We aim to maintain our composure and rhythm while keeping in mind who we are as a team.
“Last season was a great season for every one of us,” said defender Nathan Ake. Football, though, continues to advance.
“We are prepared to try again. The Community Shield is our first goal, followed by the Super Cup and Club World Cup.
There is much to go after and win. We must go again, the manager requests of everyone. For many years, this club has been engaging in that activity. Everyone is mentally prepared to keep pushing one another to the next level.
Following Klopp’s involvement on the ‘We Are Liverpool’ podcast, Liverpool published an interview with him early on Saturday.
The German pleaded for the support of the Reds’ supporters as they attempt to retake first place in the standings. “Seven and a half years ago,” he said. I stated that we must transition from being skeptics to believers.
“I didn’t realize [at the time] that this would kind of become a saying of that time because we are all always changing. So, I wasn’t sure at the moment, and I could have even been skeptical at first, but I quickly changed my mind.
“But of course, the past few years, when we came so close to completing the quadruple but fell short, and then had the season we did, that can cast some doubt, I know that.
“Then people want to change; they want to swap out 12 spots on the team one day, then only one the next. Then we make a tweak, and the incorrect player appears, saying things like, “No, no, not him.”
“Trust us is what I would like to ask for. We take full responsibility for what is occurring here, and we will stop at nothing to ensure that this season is one we will never forget. That is the strategy.
