After losing to Lewis Hamilton in the Hungarian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen lambastes Red Bull.

Max Verstappen said that his Red Bull crew was “all over the shop” after Lewis Hamilton outperformed him in the Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying session.

The Dutch driver was aiming for six consecutive pole positions in Budapest as he sought to increase his already sizable championship lead. But after Hamilton took the pole, he’ll have to start from the second grid position if he wants to win.

Verstappen’s final flying lap was unimpressive, but Hamilton was able to get more lap time out of his Mercedes. He beat the Red Bull racer by just three thousandths of a second as a result.

This weekend, Red Bull brought advancements to Hungary. Verstappen responded to a rare failure to win pole position by pointing at it, which gave him a clear cause to do so.

“I think the update works, but I don’t think we really put everything together, setup-wise, because I think today we’ve just been all over the shop and not exactly where we wanted to be,” he remarked. I’ve been trying to strike a decent balance all weekend.

“It’s been extremely up and down; today throughout qualifying, attacking corners was really challenging in Q1, Q2. My first run in Q3 in my opinion was fairly decent, but my second run had no sensation and when I tried to push a little more, I lost the front and the rear.

“So, we’re still in second place, but with the car we typically drive, I believe we need to be in front. We haven’t used it yet this weekend.

Verstappen and Lando Norris, who qualified third, received appreciation from Hamilton in his remarks made immediately following the qualifying session. The seven-time world champion tried to control his emotions after winning his first pole since December 2021 and said, “It’s going to be hard to fight these two guys.”

“Lando has been doing a fantastic job; it’s terrific to see McLaren competing up there. And Max, as you well know, is constantly working up there.

“After shouting so much in the car, I’ve lost my voice. The feeling is incredible. The crew has worked so hard, so I am incredibly appreciative to be up here. For all this time, we had been working incredibly hard to obtain a pole.

We always have a fantastic crowd here in Budapest, so a big thank you to everyone in the audience. Wow. Coming into today, I really didn’t think we would be battling for pole. Therefore, when it entered that final run, I gave it all. Nothing remained inside of it.
