Liverpool have redeveloped their iconic Anfield Road Stand at their home stadium ahead of the new Premier League season
As work on the 7,000-seat addition nears completion, Liverpool has shown off a “first look” at the pitch from the renovated Anfield Road Stand.
Jurgen Klopp broke ground on the £80 million upgrade in September 2021, and the club has now shared a breathtaking view from the new stand on social media.
Anfield will be able to accommodate up to 61,000 fans once the stand is built. It is the FSG era’s third significant infrastructure project.
The ideas for the Anfield Road Stand have been on the table for nearly four years, with the initial public consultation beginning in November 2019.
The initiatives were forced to be dropped in April 2020, when the effects of the worldwide coronavirus epidemic became clear.
A 12-month suspension was imposed on proceedings as Liverpool adjusted to the financial consequences of a three-month hiatus before clearance was granted by a Liverpool City Council planning committee to begin work in June 2021.
The Reds delayed the results of their last ticket election for supporters earlier this week due to uncertainties about the capacity of their £80 million Anfield Road Stand refurbishment.
Fans who were expecting to learn which games they would be able to purchase tickets for during the first half of the season received an email from the club on Monday informing them that the decision had been postponed until the end of the month.
It explained that the decision was made because Liverpool City Council’s licensing staff had not yet confirmed the entire capacity of the new stand ahead of test events planned for next month.
Work on the new stand has been ongoing this summer, with the Reds granted permission to play their first Premier League game away from home on Sunday, August 13 at Chelsea.
The following Saturday, Liverpool will play their first match at the new-look Anfield against Bournemouth, with over 60,000 predicted to attend, making it the greatest crowd ever for a league game at the stadium. However, members must now wait an additional period of time before they may purchase.
