CLEVELAND, OH – Joe Burrow was taken off the field Thursday during Bengals training camp after suffering a non-contact injury to his lower body.

Burrow’s leg was damaged, according to Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, who acknowledged the injury to a gathering of media members. During practice on Thursday, he was wearing a sleeve on the same calf.

Joe Burrow was carried off the field during Bengals training camp with a calf injury.

Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer tweeted the injury first, saying, “Breaking: Joe Burrow just went down grabbing the calf he has in a sleeve.” He hobbled down to the field.”

Jungle Roar podcast host Mike Petraglia caught the play on a video that he also tweeted.

Burrow stepped up in the pocket to avoid pressure, but he came up hobbling as soon as he tried to take off to the right to buy himself time to throw the ball. He sat down with trainers after the injury before a cart arrived to take him away.

Burrow tore his ACL, MCL, PCL, and meniscus in his left knee as a rookie. After leading the Bengals to the Super Bowl the following season, he was voted the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year.

While Burrow has quickly developed as one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks, making his first Pro Bowl after last season, he has dealt with his fair share of injuries.
