Paris Saint-Germain have made a €50 million (£43 million) bid for Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund; Manchester United are also interested in signing the 20-year-old striker ahead of the new Premier League season; PSG are waiting for a response and are unwilling to spend more as they prepare for life without Kylian Mbappe.
Paris Saint-Germain have made a £43m (€50m) bid for Atalanta forward and Manchester United target Rasmus Hojlund.
The French champions are awaiting an answer and are unwilling to pay any additional fees as they prepare for life without Kylian Mbappe.
On Saturday, Al Hilal made a world-record £257 million (€300 million) bid for Mbappe, but he is not interested in relocating to the Saudi Pro League at this juncture of his career.
Whatever happens with Mbappe, new PSG head coach Luis Enrique will have more money to attract young, hungry players.
According to The Athletic, Manchester United have made a verbal offer of £43 million (€50 million) plus £8.5 million (€10 million) in add-ons for Hojlund as Erik ten Hag tries to bolster his attacking options ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
Personal terms are said to be unimportant to the 20-year-old, who wants to move to Old Trafford.
United have an excellent connection with Atalanta following the Amad Diallo negotiations, and they have been in frequent contact with their counterparts about a fee compromise for Hojlund.
United would not have to sell in order to acquire Hojlund, and they are counting on strong sales this summer and in the January window to keep them inside the required financial boundaries.
While there is optimism about a contract for Hojlund, the club has had in parallel talks with Eintracht Frankfurt about Randal Kolo Muani as an alternate option.
United have also worked hard on Ajax’s versatile Mohammed Kudus, as well as at least one other target, as they do not want a drawn-out drama or to be left short on attacking options at the start of the season.
It has been stated that PSG’s interest in Hojlund will not sway United’s resolve to work within their limits.
The club has demonstrated in the transactions for Mason Mount and Andre Onana that they will not spend more than their maximum budget on a player this summer.

Ten Hag: Real Madrid defeat shows why Man Utd need a striker
Erik ten Hag believes Manchester United’s inability to capitalize on chances in a 2-0 friendly loss to Real Madrid has “absolutely” highlighted the club’s need for a new striker.
United had chances of their own but failed to score with any of their 14 tries – a familiar story considering their struggles with taking chances last season.
When asked if the attacking performance in Texas highlighted why they are trying to hire a new striker, Ten Hag replied, “Absolutely.”
“There were two things: better pressing from the start, and scoring goals.”
“I believe we need more players who can play one-on-one, and we had one-on-one situations.”
“In one-on-one situations, it was (Marcus) Rashford and, I thought, Scott McTominay.” Garnacho, a one-on-one match. You must score from the circumstances.”
