Nottingham Forest has rejected Brentford’s club record bid of £35 million for Brennan Johnson.

According to The Telegraph, Brentford returned with an upgraded offer for Johnson after having a £30 million proposal rejected previously.

Despite the fact that Brentford’s newest bid was worth up to £40 million, Forest immediately rejected it.

He has three years remaining on his current contract at Forest.

Johnson, 22, is also admired by Aston Villa but it would take an offer in the region of £50million for Forest to consider selling him.

International for Wales Johnson is a Forest academy product who has been with the club since he was eight years old.

Given that Johnson is an internally created talent, if Forest sold him, the fee would be pure profit under financial fair play standards.

Brentford had previously attempted to sign Johnson in January 2022 but were turned down.

Spanish clubs are also interested in Johnson, but they are unlikely to fulfill Forest’s asking price.

Johnson is considered a vital player by Forest manager Steve Cooper, although he might be traded if a suitable offer is made.

Johnson has made 105 appearances for Forest, scoring 29 goals and assisting on 12 others.
