Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool arriving before the pre-season friendly

Trent Alexander-Arnold has returned to the Liverpool starting lineup for today’s friendly against Leicester City in Singapore.

Alexander-Arnold has started the last two games in defensive midfield but will return to his more familiar full-back duty as the Reds try to retain the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy against Championship side at the National Stadium (kick-off 10am).

Curtis Jones, who impressed as a deeper-lying midfielder for England in their recent UEFA Under-21 European Championship victory, will instead be used as the number six.

Summer commitment Alexis MacAllister and teenager Bobby Clark round out another experimental engine room lineup with barely a fortnight till the Premier League opener against Chelsea.

Alexander-Arnold is part of a first-choice defence that includes Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate at centre-back and Andy Robertson at left-back. Caoimhin Kelleher is in goal.

And in attack, Darwin Nunez looks set to lead the line with Mohamed Salah on his right and Diogo Jota to the left.

Liverpool has named a complete bench of the remaining 16 players to travel to the Far East.
