With this win, the Reds lifted the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy.

Liverpool FC trounced Leicester City 4-0 on Sunday (July 30) at the Singapore National Stadium.

The game, which began at 5 p.m., drew 28,597 fans, the vast majority of whom wore red Liverpool jerseys.

The Liverpool fans were treated to star-studded appearances as the Reds’ starting line-up included fan favourites Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

First half

The first few minutes of the game were very even, with both teams having a shot on goal.

Darwin Nunez of Liverpool scored in the 10th minute, but the goal was disallowed because he was offside.

Around the 27th minute, the Uruguayan striker redeemed himself by slotting the ball past Leicester goalie Mads Hermansen.

A few minutes after, Liverpool’s Bobby Clark bagged another goal for the Reds, with an assist from Sala

 

Salah provided another assist in the 38th minute when he crossed the ball into the box, allowing Diogo Jota to head it home.

At half time, the scoreline was 3-0 to Liverpool.

Liverpool made ten replacements in the second half, including new signing Dominik Szoboszlai.

When Liverpool’s first-team goalie Alisson Becker came on in the 60th minute, the stadium exploded.

Three minutes after Alisson came in, his team scored their fourth goal, thanks to a header from Ben Doak.

Even after two minutes of added time, Leicester could not find the back of the net.

The match ended with a scoreline of 4-0 to Liverpool, and Jota was awarded man of the match.

With this win, Liverpool lifted the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy.

On Aug. 2, the Reds will face Bundesliga winners FC Bayern Munich in the Singapore Trophy presented by Audi and Standard Chartered at the National Stadium.
