The latest Aston Villa transfer news as the Saints are on the lookout for a potential replacement for Liverpool linked Romeo Lavia.
According to rumours, Southampton could look to Aston Villa teenager Lamare Bogarde as a possible replacement for Liverpool-linked Romeo Lavia this summer.
Jurgen Klopp’s team is keen on the Saints midfielder and have already had an opening proposal knocked down. They are said to be working on a second offer for the player.
Southampton appears to be exploring for prospective replacements in preparation for a probable exit, with the club turning to Villa. Southampton are ‘looking at’ Bogarde this summer, according to FootballTransfers, after he impressed on loan last season.
The 19-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Bristol Rovers of League One. He appeared in 18 games for the team, recording one assist and earning plaudits for his efforts.
The report adds that Southampton have ‘asked’ Villa about a permanent deal this summer, but that is not something the clubs are ‘willing’. Villa could however be open to letting the midfielder out on loan in order to test himself in the Championship in the upcoming season.
Bogarde has been with Villa since 2020, having previously played for Feyenoord’s junior team. He progressed through the U18s and U23s and was a regular in Premier League 2 before being loaned out in January.
He has been an unused substitute four times in the Premier League and made his first team debut in January 2021 as part of a young team that faced Liverpool in the FA Cup third round. Last summer, the midfielder signed a new long-term contract with the club.
After impressing in League One last season, the teenager might take the next step in his career by joining a Championship club on loan.
