Liverpool is preparing a new proposal for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.

According to trade guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Southampton will get a new bid from Liverpool to sign Romeo Lavia this summer.

The Saints recently rejected the Reds’ bid for the Belgium international. To that aim, the Merseyside outfit decided last week to make a new proposal, which they are now ready to do.

Liverpool have already been given the go-ahead by the 19-year-old regarding a switch in the ongoing transfer window. Now all that remains for the Anfield side to do is come to a consensus with the Hampshire-based club.

Liverpool are ready to submit a new bid for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.

Romano wrote on his Twitter:

“Liverpool will bid again for Romeo Lavia, no doubts; it was already decided last week and club now ready to submit new proposal to Southampton.

“There’s already green light from the player, it depends on Liverpool to agree fee with Southampton now.”

Lavia rose through the Manchester City youth system. The Belgian made a few of competitive outings for the Sky Blues before being signed by Southampton last summer.

The midfielder had a fantastic debut season at St Mary’s Stadium. He appeared in 35 games for them across all competitions, scoring one goal and assisting on another. Last season, however, the Saints were demoted.

The Hampshire-based club were unable to survive the drop. They lacked solidity defensively. Despite the Saints’ struggles, Lavia managed to catch a lot of people’s attention.

Liverpool have lost their defensive midfielder this summer.

This summer saw the departures of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, and Naby Keita from Liverpool’s midfield. In the engine room, we’ve lost a lot of depth.

Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai have both agreed to terms. Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, and Harvey Elliott also play for us. Jurgen Klopp, on the other hand, may require a defensive midfielder.

Lavia’s career still has a long way to go. However, the Belgian has proven that he can thrive in the Premier League. But whether the Reds will sign the midfielder in the next weeks remains to be seen.
