Gaethje won the BMF belt on Saturday with KO win over Dustin Poirier.

After his victory over Dustin Poirier at UFC 291, Justin Gaethje received a unique phone call.

Gaethje headlined UFC 291 in Salt Lake City, Utah, in a rematch for the vacant BMF championship versus Dustin Poirier. It was a highly anticipated rematch, and Gaethje knocked Poirier out in the second round with a well timed head kick.

Gaethje’s victory was a big accomplishment, and he received a phone call from former US President Donald Trump following the bout.

“I got a call from Trump, that was awesome. He f*****g loves fighting, man. He loves it. Yeah, he called me and told me how good I did, how proud of me he was, how impressive of a show it was,” Gaethje said to TMZ Sports. “Then, if I’m ever in New York or Florida hit him up and hopefully we can golf.”

Gaethje’s highlight was receiving a phone call from Donald Trump, and he hopes they can golf together. Justin Gaethje’s victory was noteworthy because it puts him in line for the next title chance following Dustin Poirier’s triumph. In October, Islam Makhachev will defend his belt against Charles Oliveira.

After the win, Gaethje said he plans on facing the winner and does hope it is against Oliveira so he can avenge that loss.

“I’d prefer Charles because he beat me,” Gaethje stated following UFC 291 on Saturday.”I’m a competitor, and this opportunity for redemption was incredible… It pushed me to practice harder and be more prepared, but they’re the best in the world, and I want to fight the best. I couldn’t picture Charles winning [against Islam at UFC 294] after the last fight, but I can hope.”

Justin Gaethje improved to 25-4 with the KO victory against Dustin Poirier and is now on a two-fight winning run.
