Liverpool have increased their bid for 19-year-old Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.

Last week, the Saints rejected Liverpool’s first approach of roughly £35 million plus add-ons and are apparently holding out for a cost of £50 million.

Premier League clubs have been scouting the ex-Man City midfielder following a standout debut season in the division, with Jurgen Klopp’s side the frontrunners to sign him.

Chelsea and Man United reportedly remain interested in the talented youngster who Liverpool hope can fill at least part of the void left by the exits of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

According to The Times’ Paul Joyce, the Anfield club’s enhanced offer includes currently undisclosed add ons.

Klopp has emphasized the importance of strengthening the midfield after Henderson joined Al Ettifaq for £12 million and Fabinho joined fellow Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad for £40 million.

Chelsea have also kept communication, despite the fact that the Blues have failed to reach an agreement with Brighton for their £100 million-rated midfielder Moises Caicedo.
