Today, a 24-year-old Liverpool player injured his knee during a friendly and was observed limping. Alexis MacAllister, a Liverpool midfielder, suffered a game-ending injury against Bayern Munich today

Before the game, Mac Allister lined up alongside Dominik Szoboszlai for the first time in a Liverpool shirt.

The two endured some growing pains versus Bayern, but the benefits greatly surpassed the drawbacks. That is, until Mac Allister was seen suffering a hit to the knee and requiring physiotherapy. The 24-year-old’s teammates were concerned, according to writer Ian Doyle through X.

“Mac Allister down, injured,” Doyle says. “LFC players surrounding him instantly demanded his attention. That doesn’t look good.”

Because this is a pre-season game, Mac Allister is unlikely to play in the second half. Meanwhile, we’re crossing our fingers that it’s not as serious as it sounds.

Mac Allister takes a knock

This is the absolute last thing we need right now. Of course, there’s no need to panic just yet; we should wait and see how serious the problem is.

However, anything involving knees will naturally make supporters anxious. If something goes wrong, athletes might be out for months.

In this case, that would be nothing short of terrible for Liverpool. They are already lacking starter level midfielders. It would be disastrous to lose Mac Allister less than two weeks before the season begins.

As they pursue both Romeo Lavia and Andre Trindade, they may need to add a third name to the list. As things are, Mac Allister is indeed that essential.

But not right now. In the best-case scenario, Mac Allister is completely fine. He may miss the final friendly of the preseason, but he should be back for a week on Sunday.

It’s sure to be the first question asked of Jurgen Klopp after the game. Let us hope for the best.

Until then, let’s enjoy the second half and hope for no more injuries.
