Liverpool confirmed yesterday that Fabinho has left the club on a permanent basis, and his close friend Alisson bid him farewell shortly after the news broke.

Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, and now Fabinho have all left Liverpool for Saudi Arabia. The latter is undoubtedly the most significant loss of the three, and a replacement must be found.

Liverpool posted a video yesterday on X/Twitter and other social media outlets in which a number of their great players addressed their final goodbyes to Fabinho. Allison, a fellow Brazilian, was one of them.

Alisson sends message to Fabinho after he leaves Liverpool

Fabinho was recruited by Liverpool from Monaco in the summer of 2018.

The Brazilian needed some time to adjust, but he eventually established himself as one of Liverpool’s most vital players. He was instrumental in the Reds winning every trophy over the last five years.

Fabinho, like many of his colleagues, had a difficult season last season, but it was expected that he would stay at Liverpool and return to his best.

However, Al Itthad of Saudi Arabia came in with a hefty offer for the 29-year-old, which he accepted, ending his five-year spell at Anfield.

Multiple Liverpool players paid a touching tribute to Fabinho in a video released yesterday.

Among them was Alisson, who said: “I’m not too happy to come here, to say words of farewell for you, but I know that all good things come to an end.

“You are like my family, you and Rebeca (Fabinho’s wife), you are like my brother and sister. I love you, man.”

Liverpool suddenly has a Fabinho-sized void in the middle of their field.

For many years, the Brazilian was regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League. He was great for the Reds and was a major cause for their success.

Liverpool now needs to find a successor. Romeo Lavia has been widely connected, but Southampton will not budge on their demands.

That complicates matters for Klopp, who must find a way to bring in someone capable of playing at the level necessary in the crucial number six position.
