Arsenal has submitted a £23 million bid. David Raya bid’ follows Brentford goalkeeper’s transfer message.
Arsenal are eyeing a move for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya as competition for Aaron Ramsdale.
Arsenal have reportedly made an initial approach for Brentford keeper David Raya, as Mikel Arteta seeks to provide more competition for current stopper Aaron Ramsdale. Tottenham, Chelsea, and Manchester United all balked at the Bees’ £40 million valuation of the Spain international, who is expected to join Arsenal.
Fabrizio Romano claims that an offer of £20 million up front with a further £3 million in add-ons was submitted to Brentford on Thursday evening, £17 million less than their prior assessment, after the 27-year-old has already told the Bees that he wants to go for Arsenal.
Personal details have already been agreed upon, and if the transfer is finalized, current Gunners number two Matt Turner is expected to go, with Nottingham Forest keen in the American international.
Brentford have been forthright about their attitude on Raya, with boss Thomas Frank revealing that they are happy to let him depart if their valuation of £40m is satisfied – despite the fact that he has only one year left on his contract and is refusing to sign a new one.
However, the boss remained tight-lipped on the potential deal. “You know that I’m not going to talk about any player who isn’t here, I’m sorry,” he remarked before complimenting Ramsdale’s performance.
“He was really good,” Arteta remarked, confirming Ramsdale’s inclusion in his plans for the upcoming season. “I think he was really composed in the game, I think he didn’t have to intervene too much, I think the two actions, one was a very close range goal, one was the action where they had the cutback and they hit the post, and there wasn’t much more to do.” Everything he did with the ball was excellent.”
