Tottenham Hotspur are still in the running to sign Clement Lenglet, despite Al-Nassr closing in on a deal with Barcelona.

According to the Spanish newspaper Sport, the Saudi Pro League club is willing to pay £12.9 million to recruit the Frenchman this summer.

Clement Lenglet is almost certainly not going to be playing for Barcelona next season. The Catalan giants appear to be desperate to move the 28-year-old off their books.

And a return to Tottenham appeared to be on the cards. According to Sport, he could have previously signed for Spurs for a small sum.

However, this is no longer the case.

Al-Nassr have now entered the race for Lenglet’s signature, according to Sport. They are also willing to spend €15 million to get him to the Kingdom.

Tottenham, though, is not yet out of the race, according to Sport. If Spurs can match Al-Nassr’s offer, Lenglet is expected to return to the Premier League.

Finally, you’d think Tottenham would be content to let Lenglet go to Saudi Arabia. If they were willing to pay £12.9 million for him, they would have done it by now.

Lenglet would not have been a bad addition to Tottenham’s squad. Last season, he was a solid player for the club. And Spurs desperately need more defensive reinforcements before the new season begins.

Tottenham, however, is embarking on a new era under Ange Postecoglou. And, until things get desperate at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it’s difficult to see Spurs matching Al-Nassr’s bid.
