According to journalist Patrick Berger, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.

On Wednesday evening, the Sport1 journalist stated on social networking platform X that Spurs are considering a bid for Tapsoba.

Tottenham have made a good start to the summer transfer season, but have yet to provide Ange Postecoglou with a new centre-back.

Spurs appear to have made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven.

Indeed, Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Spurs are nearing a deal to recruit the Dutchman, with personal conditions already agreed.

Tottenham have been connected with both Van de Ven and Tapsoba in recent weeks.

After closing in on Van de Ven, it appears like Postecoglou’s staff are still attempting to finalize a deal for Tapsoba.

Tottenham is looking for another ‘outstanding’ £45 million defender to replace Micky Van de Ven.

According to Berger, Spurs intend to make a second offer to Bayer Leverkusen for Tapsoba this summer.

The bid will be valued approximately £38.7 million (€45 million) plus add-ons, according to the journalist.

However, Leverkusen are anticipated to want a far bigger price for the 24-year-old.

Tottenham appear to be pressing on with their attempts to bolster Postecoglou’s alternatives at centre-back after weeks of little progress. Tottenham is looking for another ‘outstanding’ £45 million defender to replace Micky Van de Ven.

Van de Ven appears to be a promising possibility after a strong season with Wolfsburg in Germany, although Tapsoba is arguably a more ready-made choice.

The Leverkusen defender has been dubbed a ‘outstanding’ defender and has been a constant under Xabi Alonso.

If the Spurs are able to sign both Van de Ven and Tapsoba this summer, Postecoglou will have plenty of defensive choices.

However, it appears that Leverkusen will not be lowering their £45 million valuation of the player anytime soon, which means that Spurs will have to increase their bid to secure him.
