A Premier League footballer accused of raping three women is poised to begin his second season under police investigation.
Following his arrest last summer, a Premier League footballer was’released under investigation’ for the alleged rape of three women.
The athlete, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested and brought into custody on July 4, 2022 in north London on suspicion of rape.
In the days that followed, a second rape claim was made in regard to an incident in 2021, before a third lady came forward in February 2023.
The footballer was interviewed by police under caution over the offence, which is alleged to have taken place in February 2022.
The top flight star continued playing last season following multiple bail extensions, with the last one being in July.

He reported for his bail terms earlier this week, but he has since been advised that he will no longer have a set date to report to police in the future.
As a result, the celebrity will begin a second season ‘under investigation,’ with the new season premiering next weekend.
There is no timetable for making a decision in this matter.
On August 3, the Met Police issued the following statement: ‘On 4 July 2022, an allegation of rape of a lady in her twenties was reported to police.
‘According to reports, the alleged rape occurred in June 2022. On 4 July 2022, a 30-year-old male was arrested and detained on suspicion of rape.
‘While in detention, he was arrested on suspicion of two rapes perpetrated in April and June of 2021 against a separate woman in her 20s.
‘In February 2023, the individual was examined under caution for a sexual offence allegedly committed in Barnet in February 2022. This relates to a third victim and was reported to police in July 2022. In June 2021, no further action will be taken in regard to the alleged offence.
‘This has been explained to the complainant, who is still being assisted by officers. The man was released on bail until August 2023. He was later released under investigation until more investigations are conducted.’
