When it comes to signing their top summer transfer target, Bayern Munich is in a pivotal week. Bayern Munich expects a definitive decision on Harry Kane by the end of Friday after fruitful negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy on Monday.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Bayern Munich has set a Friday midnight deadline for Spurs to decide whether to sell Kane this summer. Bayern Munich is the lone club currently pursuing the English striker from Spurs. If Spurs do not announce their choice before Friday, Die Roten will consider other options.

The information from Daily Telegraph has also been confirmed by Bild and Fabrizio Romano. It was previously reported that Bayern wanted an agreement with Spurs over a deal to sign Kane this week, so it makes sense for the Bundesliga club to set a deadline.

Despite positive talks between Spurs and Bayern on Monday, there remains a substantial gap between both clubs’ valuation of Kane. Spurs are reportedly looking to get a fee close to £100 million for the English striker, while Bayern is ready to pay £86 million with performance-related add-ons. The Bavarian club has already submitted a new offer for the star striker.

Spurs have previously sold their star players to clubs outside of England at the end of transfer windows (Gareth Bale and Luka Modric). Bayern does not want a drawn-out transfer controversy, thus they want a resolution sooner rather than later.

Harry Kane is interested in joining Bayern Munich. He had fruitful discussions with Thomas Tuchel, which will make personal terms a formality if both teams can agree on a transfer fee. Paris Saint-Germain has also expressed interest in Kane, although he is apparently unwilling to join the French club.

Kane has been offered a hefty new contract by the Spurs. When the transfer market opens, the English striker is not in a hurry to sign a new contract. If Bayern do not sign him this summer, they may try to sign him on a free transfer the following summer. Next summer, however, Kane will face stiff competition.

Die Roten would prefer to have a new number nine in place before the DFL Supercup match against RB Leipzig in mid-August. If Spurs decide not to sell Kane, they may have to look towards other options, such as Randal Kolo Muani and Dusan Vlahovic. Spurs must make a decision soon or risk losing Kane on a free transfer in 2024.
