Bayern Munich hopes to reach an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for Harry Kane this weekend after making an offer of more than £86 million.
The German champions have requested Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to make a decision on Kane’s transfer by Saturday morning, after raising their price to a’very fair offer’ for the striker, who has one year left on his contract.
Bayern wants clarification so that if their bid is failed, they can move on to other targets.
It is now up to Levy to decide whether to accept Bayern’s club-record bid of £86.24 million plus add-ons, with all sides eager for the situation to be addressed as soon as possible.
Bayern expects Kane to be in their starting lineup for next Saturday’s German Super Cup final against RB Leipzig, and the player is eager to accept their challenge and sign a four-year contract for roughly £400,000 per week.
If a deal cannot be agreed, Kane is expected to see out the final year of his contract at Tottenham and leave for free next summer.
There have been no indications that Kane, who turned 30 last week, wants to extend his stay at Spurs any longer despite the club’s attempts to persuade him to sign a new deal.
Bayern Munich has considered re-signing Kane in January for a lower amount or on a pre-contract for next summer.
Technical director Marco Neppe has been a significant figure throughout the negotiations, having visited Kane and his family and accompanying CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen to London for talks with Levy.
He feels Kane is dedicated to the Bayern project and, with the approval of manager Thomas Tuchel, is willing to try again next year if Levy declines.
Tottenham have lined up Argentina Under 20 striker Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central and want Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson as they prepare for Kane’s departure. They also expect to sign Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven for £43million.
