Aston Villa join Chelsea in the race to sign USMNT midfielder

Chelsea and Aston Villa are eyeing for Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams.

As per Daily Mail (h/t Football London), Aston Villa are set to give Chelsea some competition for signing Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams this summer.

The release clause in the contract of the USA international was put into effect after Leeds was demoted at the conclusion of the previous campaign. The buying clubs may find it simpler to sign him as a result.

We are aware that Chelsea is eager to strengthen its centre midfield unit before the start of the new campaign. All summer long, Moises Caicedo has been a key target for them, but it has became difficult for them to finalize a deal with Brighton for the Ecuadorian.

The Blues recently made an offer of £80 million to the Seagulls for the 21-year-old. In line with what Arsenal spent to acquire Declan Rice, they are asking for more over £100 million.

According to a previous Evening Standard article, Chelsea is keeping an eye on PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes as a Caicedo replacement. Adams is probably included in that group as well.

The American international was acquired by Leeds from RB Leipzig for roughly £20 million almost exactly one year ago. The 24-year-old enjoyed a respectable debut season in the Premier League despite the Yorkshire-based team being relegated. He also had a successful World Cup in Qatar.

Adams is a defensive midfielder who, if necessary, can also play as a right back and wide midfielder. He is a very competitive player who likes to stay in front and move quickly both on and off the ball.

He has the hallmark of being a great Mauricio Pochettinomidfielder. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will persist with the Caicedo deal or seriously pursue a chance to get Adams before Aston Villa does.
