This comes after Mail Sport stated that Ange Postecoglou’s side were on the verge of signing the defender after weeks of talks between the clubs.

The 22-year-old centre defender had a solid season with Wolfsburg, attracting interest from a number of European clubs.

Spurs, on the other hand, have agreed to terms with the defender, and he will fly to London this weekend for his physical.

The two clubs agreed on a cost of £43 million for the Netherlands U21 defender, who will sign a five-year contract.

A potential deal was previously held up as Van de Ven was part of the Netherlands U21 squad to compete at the European Championships.

Unfortunately for his side, the young Dutchmen drew all three of their group matches and exited the tournament.

The defender was outstanding, playing every minute as his team conceded only two goals throughout the competition.

The central defender also played in Wolfsburg’s 2-1 preseason friendly loss to Spezia on Wednesday night.

Van de Ven will most likely pair Cristian Romero at the heart of Tottenham’s defence as Postecoglou secures his man just a week before the start of the Premier League season.

Tottenham play Brentford on the first day of the season, and Harry Kane’s future remains uncertain as Bayern Munich pursues a bid for the England captain.

It remains to be known where the forward will end up this summer, but Postecoglou will undoubtedly want the transfer situation resolved as quickly as possible.
