WHAT HAPPENED? Despite the continuing Kane-to-Bayern Munich transfer drama, Postecoglou gave the English striker the captain’s armband in a pre-season friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk. Kane scored four goals as his club defeated the Ukrainians 5-1.
Following Kane’s outstanding performance, the new Tottenham manager issued a warning to the Bundesliga champions, who reportedly set a Friday deadline for club chairman Daniel Levy to make a decision on the potential move, and maintained that the striker is totally dedicated to his duties in north London.
WHAT THEY SAID: Speaking to reporters following Tottenham’s most recent pre-season outing, Postecoglou stated, “You saw today that Harry Kane certainly is invested in what we’re doing — and we will continue to do so unless something changes.” We know there is just one deadline: the end of the transfer window.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Bayern Munich last submitted a bid for Kane for more than €100 million (£86 million/$110 million) and gave the Premier League until Friday midnight to respond. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, however, turned down their offer and flew to the United States.
