Last season, Balogun enjoyed a productive loan at Reims, scoring 22 goals for the French team across all competitions. However, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta prefers Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, while new signing Kai Havertz gets the start in attack for the Community Shield, making the American international merely Mikel Arteta’s fourth choice at the Emirates Stadium.

The striker has suitors all throughout Europe and is prepared to go for regular playing time. However, the Gunners won’t go with the 22-year-old unless their £50 million asking price is satisfied.

Inter Milan is interested in Balogun but is having trouble putting a deal together to entice the Arsenal hierarchy, thus Monaco has decided to step in and bring Balogun back to Ligue 1.

Thiago Scuro, the sports director for Monaco, made a verbal offer to rival Edu after the two teams’ friendly match last week, but Edu quickly rejected it. The Ligue 1 team subsequently made a formal written offer, which is believed to have been worth an initial £30 million plus add-ons, but that offer was also rejected.

The news that top player Breel Embolo will be sidelined for several months with an ACL tear has the French team looking for a striker.

A Serie A team After both players left the team in the summer, Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku, Inter is still looking for their replacements. Initially interested in repurchasing Lukaku from Chelsea, they have now lost interest in the Belgian striker.

Balogun insisted he was prepared for regular first-team play earlier this summer. “I obviously left, and the point was to show that I could play first-team football,” he stated. I’m proud of myself for being able to demonstrate my ability to play at that level.

“I think with me coming back it’s not really much of a situation where I think I can need to try extra hard to prove something, I think it’s a decision that’s not really with me. Whatever happens I’m cool with it

First-choice forward Jesus, who is absent for a few weeks due to injury, is a concern for boss Arteta. The Spaniard is unwilling to alter his plans for Balogun, notwithstanding the issue.

“Nothing has changed on the plan with Flo. We will, however, be without him thanks to Gabby. We have additional alternatives to play with players of various quality, so we will adjust, he stated last week.

“It’s a major setback since Jesus was performing at his peak. He was in fantastic shape, but we lost him. He has experienced some discomfort over the past few weeks. We had to look into it and make a choice, and the best course of action is to safeguard the player and return him as soon as possible.
