According to SPORT, Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva remain at the top of Barcelona’s wishlist for the current transfer window. And the reigning La Liga champions have made a joint bid for the Portuguese duo to Manchester City this summer.

Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva have both had successful spells with Manchester City. However, both athletes have experienced periods when they were out of favour. Cancelo’s predicament has gotten worse, as he left Manchester City in the second half of the 2022/23 season to join Bayern Munich on a short-term loan.

Now back at the Etihad, the 29-year-old’s future at Manchester City is uncertain. Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva has made over 300 appearances for Manchester City and has contributed to over 100 goals. But, having won every trophy with the Premier League champions, he wants to try something new this summer.

Cancelo, on the other hand, may not have a say in his Manchester City destiny. According to rumours, Pep Guardiola would prefer to get rid of the Portuguese international. Meanwhile, Barcelona has taken notice of the situation around the Premier League-winning combo.

The Catalan giants hold a long-standing interest in Silva, in particular. They have attempted to sign the 28-year-old in the last two summer transfer windows. But a move has never materialised due to Barcelona’s never-ending financial duress. However, they have been formulating an offer to sign the Portuguese international.

According to SPORT, the reigning La Liga winners have tabled a joint bid for Cancelo and Bernardo Silva. Barcelona hopes to sign the Premier League champions on loan this summer. However, the contract for Silva will include a €70 million required buy clause.

Cancelo and Silva should have no problems with personal terms. However, it is unclear whether Manchester City will be willing to let go of the Portuguese duo on loan this summer. And if the Premier League champions insist on permanent contracts, Barcelona may be unable to afford either player.
