Bernardo Silva is reportedly giving serious consideration to signing a new Manchester City deal amid interest in the midfielder from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Neither team has made a formal approach for the 28-year-old Portugal international, and City are hoping he will sign a new contract before the season begins.

There are considerable questions about Barcelona’s ability to sign one of Manchester City’s most influential players. Eduard Romeu, the club’s economic vice-president, disclosed the club’s debts at £1.16 billion in June.

Silva has previously contemplated quitting City in order to be closer to his family in Portugal. As a result, a move to Barcelona would have been preferable than a move to PSG.

According to The Times, Silva is considering extending his six-year deal with City, who gave him a contract extension earlier this year.

Last season, the playmaker scored seven goals and assisted on eight others as City won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League treble.

In 307 games for the club, Silva has scored 55 goals and provided 59 assists.

He is still a key part of Pep Guardiola’s plans and a popular member of the squad.

Silva played the entire 90 minutes for City, and then converted a penalty in the shootout, but they fell to Arsenal in the FA Community Shield at Wembley.

Guardiola’s side begin their quest for a fourth consecutive Premier League title on Friday night when they travel to newly promoted Burnley.
