Ange Postecoglou faces a massive task in purging a bloated Spurs squad before the transfer season closes, but the club has made some good moves so far.

Tottenham has indeed signed Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Manor Solomon, and Ashley Phillips.

Both Micky van de Ven and Alejo Veliz appear to be on their way out the door with the quartet.

Spurs are likely to be a bit of a mystery this season as Postecoglou attempts to establish a dramatically different style of play than his predecessors.

And Gary Neville believes Spurs will end up finishing eighth, behind the likes of Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Chelsea.

Neville shares Tottenham prediction

Neville was asked on The Overlap to make some early predictions for the next season.

“I’m going to go Arsenal to win the league, City second because of the three things and never winning a fourth,” he stated. “I believe Arsenal can beat them.”

“I’m thinking Arsenal, City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Villa.” Tottenham and Newcastle. I’m thinking Newcastle and Tottenham, Newcastle Champions League and Tottenham, I’m not sure what’s going on.”

It’s hardly surprising to hear Neville confess that he’s not sure what to anticipate from Tottenham this season.

While Postecoglou has been a successful manager everywhere he has worked, he is largely unknown in English football.

Of course, the Australian manager led Celtic to a historic domestic treble last season, as well as titles in Japan and Australia.

But, if he gets the appropriate support before the window closes, he could surprise a few people at Spurs this season.

Tottenham are likely to start slowly as they adjust to the former Celtic manager’s methods. However, if they can keep their best player Harry Kane, they could make a surprise push for a top-four finish.
