Tottenham have loaned out centre-back Joe Rodon to Championship club Leeds United for the season.

The defender is Leeds’ fourth summer addition, and he might make his debut against Birmingham on Saturday.

Rasmus Kristensen, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, and Maximilian Wober all left Leeds following the club’s relegation to the Championship.

Rodon began his career at Swansea, and following a loan spell at Cheltenham, he made his Swansea debut in 2018.

He then joined Tottenham in 2020 and spent last season on loan with Ligue 1 side Rennes, where he made 22 appearances across all competitions and helped the club reach the Europa League knockout rounds.

The 25-year-old has earned 37 caps for Wales since making his international debut in 2019 and featured in their Euro 2020 and World Cup 2022 campaigns.

Leeds are in charge of their own destiny with Gnonto because, unlike many other players who have left – or, in the case of Chelsea target Tyler Adams, might yet leave – he is not thought to have a release clause in his contract. The fact that so many of these conditions permitted players to leave on loan rather than for a transfer fee has made recruitment even more difficult.
