Liverpool will ‘100%’ make a ‘club-record’ bid for Moises Caicedo as the Chelsea trade rivalry heats up.
Liverpool are said to be ‘ready’ to smash their transfer record in order to get Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, who is seen as Chelsea’s main target.
The Ecuador international is largely regarded as one of the Premier League’s top defensive midfielders, and it’s no secret that Jurgen Klopp is looking to reinforce that position this summer.
Brighton has already rejected Chelsea’s £80 million bid. They are still likely to make a better offer and have long been regarded the favourites to sign Caicedo.

Liverpool, on the other hand, appears to be sabotaging their intentions by postponing their own mega-money bid for Caicedo in the near future.
The Merseyside club are ‘ready’ to break their transfer record to sign the Brighton star, according to Sky Sports News. Caicedo is worth £100 million to the Seagulls, and no one has come close to matching that price yet.
The current transfer record for the Reds is £85 million, which they spent for Darwin Nunez last summer. As things stand, they are poised to dethrone Chelsea and become the top bidder for Caicedo.
Sky Sports’ report has been backed up by reputed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claims Liverpool will definitely make an offer for the midfielder.
On Twitter, Romano wrote: “Moises Caicedo, in London, waiting for key developments on his future.
“Brighton is waiting for Liverpool to submit their official bid — if not tonight, Friday.” Liverpool will make a full bid.
“Then it’ll be up to Chelsea.” Brighton will be awarded to the highest bidder.”
Liverpool are looking to add another talented midfielder to their team before the transfer season closes.
The specific sum they intend to offer for Caicedo is unknown, but they appear to be working really hard to sign him.
The Reds have lost Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this season, and have only brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to replace them.
Romeo Lavia is one midfield target they are interested in, but Caicedo appears to be their first focus right now.
Chelsea, on the other hand, having sold Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, and saw N’Golo Kante depart earlier this summer. Given this, it’s no surprise that Mauricio Pochettino is interested in signing Caicedo.
The race to recruit the Brighton star is expected to ramp up in the coming days, so it will be intriguing to watch who comes out on top: Liverpool or Chelsea.
