According to Spanish media, Carlo Ancelotti is opposed to Real Madrid signing former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea to replace Thibaut Courtois.

After Courtois suffered a cruciate ligament injury during a training session on Thursday, Madrid has been obliged to look for a new goalie.

The 31-year-old is scheduled to have surgery and will miss the majority of the upcoming season.

According to Cadena COPE, Madrid’s management has pondered signing De Gea; however, Ancelotti is skeptical by United’s former goalie and would’veto’ the signing, even if it was a free transfer.

According to the source, Sevilla goalkeeper Bono is among the candidates on Madrid’s shortlist; nonetheless, the Spanish club faces the possibility of losing the Moroccan international to the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili is also on Madrid’s shortlist after being one of the standout goalkeepers in La Liga last season.

De Gea, meanwhile, is still searching for a new club after leaving Manchester United earlier this summer.

After 12 seasons at Old Trafford, the 32-year-old was unable to agree on a new contract with United.

United have subsequently replaced De Gea with Andre Onana, who was signed from Inter in a £47.2 million deal last month.
