BREAKING: Brighton and Hove Albion accept Liverpool’s bid for Moises Caicedo, and reports suggest a medical will soon follow

That’s correct. The drama of Moises Caicedo is finally coming to a close, and it’s going out with a bang. After months of talks between Chelsea and Brighton over the Ecuadorian midfielder, Liverpool has snatched the player at the last minute in a British record trade. Fabrizio Romano was the first to break the news of the bid’s approval, stating that Liverpool’s accepted price is £110 million. According to Romano, Caicedo will join Liverpool tomorrow if all goes as planned.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Chelsea’s highest bid was £100 million, and so Liverpool has won the fight to recruit Moises Caicedo. He is scheduled to get a physical on Friday in order to complete the transfer before the start of Liverpool’s 23/24 Premier League season.

As previously reported by The Top Flight, Liverpool became a late entrant into the contest as Chelsea made a proposal for Liverpool target Romeo Lavia. Brighton then set a Thursday night deadline for signing Moises Caicedo, declaring that the highest bidder will have their offer approved. Things gradually changed for Chelsea over the day, and Liverpool appeared to be the frontrunners to capture the youngster.

Liverpool will '100%' make a 'club-record' bid for Moises Caicedo

Chelsea are now in a difficult situation. Caicedo’s arrival seems unavoidable, but they now have nothing to show for their lengthy negotiations. They were also interested in Manuel Ugarte early in the transfer window but allowed PSG steal the deal. Todd Boehly will need to act quickly if Chelsea is to sign a midfielder before the August 13th match against Liverpool in the Premier League. The most obvious possibility appears to be a deal with Southampton for Romeo Lavia, but the Blues’ next move is unknown.
