Manchester United has changed Mason Greenwood announcement plan
Manchester United are apparently planning to postpone making a decision on Mason Greenwood’s future until after the Women’s World Cup. The Red Devils were supposed to reveal the findings of their internal probe before Wolves’ visit to Old Trafford on Monday night.
Senior United officials are said to desire the women’s team to be involved in decision-making. Mary Earps, Ella Toone, and Katie Zelem are still competing for England, while Aissatou Tounkara and Estelle Cascarino are competing for France. The Women’s World Cup final is set to begin on August 20, which means Greenwood may have to wait until then to learn the destiny of his club future.
According to The Guardian, , United executives want to confer with big sponsors, the football department, and fans before making a final decision. Greenwood hasn’t played competitively since United suspended him on full pay in January 2022.
The 21-year-old was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but he denied the charges and they were dropped in February this year.
Greenwood has been seen practising away from the club as he prepares to return to the field. It remains to be seen whether his comeback will take place at Old Trafford or if he would be compelled to relocate.
