After weeks of speculation, it appeared that the story had come to an end when Liverpool negotiated a British record transfer fee of £111 million with Brighton for the Ecuador international.

On Sunday night, Romano stated that Caicedo would join Liverpool on Friday if “everything goes as planned.”

In his most recent press conference on Monday, Jurgen Klopp revealed that an agreement had been reached. “I was told that the deal with the club is finalized,” he remarked. “Whatever that means in the end, we’ll see.”

However, the highly rated midfielder appeared to be having “second thoughts” many hours later.

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth was told on Monday that the player was reconsidering a move to Liverpool due to interest from Chelsea, as his representatives stayed in London on Monday morning.

And now, it appears Caicedo has informed Liverpool that he only wants to join Chelsea.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who says the midfielder has decided to keep his word and only accept Chelsea as personal terms were agreed since end of May.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are set to bid again in order to get deal done with Brighton.
