Tyler Adams’ transfer to Chelsea has collapses, deal currently OFF.

Tyler Adams’ proposed move to Chelsea appears to be on the verge of collapse, despite the Premier League club agreeing to match the midfielder’s release clause.

Adams was supposedly on the verge of joining Chelsea during the summer transfer window. The Premier League team is thought to have activated the £20 million release clause in the player’s Leeds United contract.

Leeds United were demoted from the Premier League to the Championship in May after three years in the English top flight. As a result, some of the team’s key players, including Adams, are anticipated to quit the club.

According to Sky Sports, Adams’ anticipated move to Chelsea is off and will not take place. According to reports, the 24-year-old will return to Elland Road after the deal fell through and will not be leaving Leeds as things now stand.

The report adds that the deal fell through due to the clubs failing to reach an agreement over the terms of the transfer. This was despite Adams himself apparently being keen to leave the Championship club.

Reports about Adams future come amid continued speculation around Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo. The Ecuador international has been linked with a move to Chelsea ever since January, with interest in his signature seemingly intensifying in recent days.

Chelsea and Liverpool have both expressed an interest in signing Caicedo before the transfer deadline on September 1. It was even rumoured that the Reds had made a British transfer record bid of £110 million to capture Caicedo, possibly beating out Chelsea, who had supposedly offered £100 million.

However, the rumour is far from over, with Chelsea refusing to give up on signing Caiceco. According to the Independent, Caicedo favours a move to Stamford Bridge and will allow the London club time to make an offer after spending the last few months sorting out personal details.

Now that a deal to bring Adams to Chelsea appears to be off the table, the Blues may have the funds to finalize a deal for Caicedo. However, at the time of writing, Liverpool was the only team that had a bid accepted by Brighton.

Caicedo moved to Brighton from the Ecuadorian club Independiente de Valle in February 2021. Brighton paid £4.5 million ($5.7 million) to sign Caicedo two-and-a-half years ago and could be set to make a major profit on the midfielder, but whether the player will end up at Chelsea or Liverpool remains to be seen.
