Barcelona is still registering new signings and contract renewals ahead of Sunday’s La Liga start against Getafe, but the summer’s biggest signing is already officially a member of the squad.

On La Liga’s official website, , Ilkay Gündogan’s name has been added to Barça’s squad, and it appears that the German has chosen number 22, which used to belong to Raphinha. Gündogan was given the number 5 and wore it during preseason, but he’s elected to stick with the number he wore at his first professional club, Nürnberg.

When it came to Gündogan’s registration, there was a lot of anxiety within the Barça camp. His pay was the highest among the players who needed to be registered, and there was a clause in the midfielder’s contract that allowed him to quit the deal and become a free agent again if his registration wasn’t completed.
