Here is the full statement from the club:

“FC Barcelona and the player Ousmane Dembélé have severed ties as a result of the player’s unilateral exercise of a right granted to him in his employment contract.” In precise accordance with the agreement, the club has not negotiated or agreed on the details of this severance with third parties.”

The long-awaited transfer of Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain was finalized on Saturday. The 26-year-old joins for €50.4 million and has signed a five-year contract.

PSG activated Dembele’s release clause at the end of last month, with the player having already agreed on personal terms. However, the transaction was stalled by Barcelona, who were negotiating pay splits with the Frenchman’s agent.

A 50/50 arrangement had been reported, with both parties earning €25 million, but Barcelona felt they were entitled to more, hence the delay. According to Sport, the LaLiga champions earned €35.4 million, with the remaining €15 million going to Dembele and his representative.

Given the circumstances, this is about as good of a deal that Barcelona could have got. They can now use these funds to register existing players and sign new ones, with a right-back high on the agenda for the latter.
