England captain Harry Kane has left Tottenham Hotspur after 19 years to join European powerhouse Bayern Munich in search of titles, according to the Bundesliga’s record signing.

Kane, 30, signed a four-year contract with Bayern Munich for a reputed €100 million (RM502.9 million) plus add-ons yesterday and made his debut just hours later as a second-half substitute in Bayern’s 3-0 loss to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup.

Despite his outstanding scoring record, he has yet to win a domestic or international title with Spurs. Record signing Kane claims he joined Bayern to win titles.

“In my career, I’ve always wanted to keep improving, pushing myself, and seeing how far that can take me,” Kane stated at a news conference.

“I wanted to play in the Champions League and compete for titles every year.” Coming to Bayern provides me that chance. “I am excited about the challenge.”

The striker, who joined Tottenham at the age of 11, has scored a club-record 280 goals in more than 430 appearances in all competitions and 58 times for his country in 84 games, making him England’s all-time leading marksman.

He is also the second-highest Premier League scorer of all time with 213 goals, 47 behind Alan Shearer, yet he has yet to win a club or country title.

Bayern have been looking for an out-and-out striker since the departure of Robert Lewandowski last year.

The Bavarians won the Champions League for the sixth time in 2020, the most recent of their six European Cups. In addition, they have won the last 11 Bundesliga titles in a row.

“I spent 19 years of my life at Tottenham.” “I’m a professional, and I’ve always pushed myself to the limit,” Kane remarked.

“I needed to be playing in the Champions League every year, trying to win titles.” It was a decision I wanted to make when I thought about it.”

This season, Tottenham did not qualify for international football.

Kane, on the other hand, lost out on the season’s first title on his Bayern debut, coming on just after the hour but managing only three touches in the loss to Leipzig.

“It was amazing to see the reception I got,” he remarked. “Of course, I wanted to come here and win last night, but that wasn’t the case.”

“There’s no need to panic; it’s going to be a long season,” Kane added. “We want to win the title, the Cup, and try to win the Champions League as well.” — According to Reuters
