Rico Lewis has signed a new five-year contract with Manchester City.
Rico Lewis, Manchester City‘s outstanding teenage defender, has signed a new five-year contract.
Lewis, 18, from Bury, joined City’s academy as an eight-year-old and advanced through the youth ranks before making 23 first-team appearances last season as Pep Guardiola’s side won the Treble.
Lewis’ contract with City runs until the summer of 2028.
“It’s been an unbelievable year for me, and now to sign this contract is a dream come true,” Lewis said on Manchester City’s website.

“As a City fan, I remember watching us win trophies when I was younger, and it’s always been the only place I wanted to be.”
“Knowing I’ll be here until 2028 is fantastic, and I can’t wait to keep working and getting better.”
Txiki Begiristain, City’s director of football, stated, “Rico is a really intelligent footballer who is already a mature and reliable member of the squad.”
“He absorbs every piece of information Pep gives him, which is unusual for a player his age.”
“We are very proud to have watched his journey through the academy and to see him playing with such confidence in the first team.
“His energy and hunger around the squad is contagious and we believe he can help to bring more success in the coming years.”
Lewis is hoping to win another trophy with Man City on Wednesday when they take on Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup in Athens.
