West Ham United player Lucas Paqueta is being investigated for possible betting violation

Lucas Paqueta a West Ham midfielder, is apparently being investigated for possible violations of the Football Association’s betting guidelines.

Following a revelation in the Daily Mail outlining the probe, no charges have been filed against the Brazilian at this time, with the nature of the alleged violations unknown.

Both West Ham and the FA have declined to comment. The player himself is also yet to respond to the media reports.

Paqueta has lately attracted interest from Manchester City, who were willing to spend up to £70 million on the 25-year-old but had an opening offer rejected by West Ham.

It is unclear whether Paqueta will be included in the Hammers’ squad to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

West Ham United player Lucas Paqueta is being investigated for possible betting violation.

The Blues go to London Stadium for a 4.30 p.m. kickoff against David Moyes’ side, who used Paqueta from the start in last week’s 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.

The Citizens have increased their interest in the 25-year-old this month, following the loss of Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona and Kevin De Bruyne’s hamstring injury, which might keep him out for up to four months.

Pep Guardiola’s side were thought to be prepared to make a formal offer for Paqueta, but rumours have now emerged that talks over his possible move to the Etihad Stadium have been put on hold, and the deal is 90% likely to be called off.
